The people have spoken…The Josh Jackson Band has been voted BEST NEW BAND and BEST LOCAL ROCK BAND by the Nashville Scene's 2002 "Best Of" Readers Poll, an honor that comes as quite a surprise to the pop/rock quintet. "I never would have thought we could be honored in this way," says lead singer, Josh Jackson. "Our friends and fans in the Nashville music community have always been supportive, but this is the ultimate in recognition."
While the band appeals to local music lovers, the group has also found friends all over the map. People from over 15 states as well as India, Holland and the UK have found their way to the band's web site, bought merchandise and become fans. One of the many things that draws people to the band is the positive nature of their material. "I was always brought up that whatever you do, it should have a purpose. If we are going to go out there and play music, I want people to get something out of it as well as enjoy the music." says Jackson. And people are responding. And why not? The band's style is influenced by many different genres of music including power pop, roots rock and acoustic grooves. While their sound is often compared to such big name acts as Vertical Horizon, Sister Hazel and Train, their unique flair creates a style all their own, setting them apart from the cookie cutter bands that dominate in the industry today.
The band members all agree that being recognized with accolades and having fans across the world is a blast, but they are also just as comfortable going out and just having fun. "I don't know if we will ever be signed to a major label or make millions of dollars doing this," says Jackson "But as long as we continue to have fun and influence people positively, you can always count on The Josh Jackson Band being around."
